Modified Bitumen
Modified Bitumen (MB) roofs are asphalt-based and commonly used in low-slope roofs. MB roofs are tear-resistant, waterproof, flexible, very easy to maintain, and can last up to 20 years.
A modified bitumen roof is usually a conventional alternative to built-up roof systems that also primarily use bitumen, and is considered as an evolution of it. A modified bitumen is a roofing membrane made of asphalt and plastic or rubber polymers. This makes it much more effective at being tear resistant because of the polyglass or fiberglass reinforcements it contains leading to a lesser need for repairs.
This roofing is also much more energy saving because it preserves temperature in homes better. A top layer of cool roof features that’s added to this system can provide thermal emission, reflect sunlight better, and release absorbed heat.
